What's a Balebosta?
A balebosta (also spelled balabusta or baleboste) is a Yiddish term for an exceptionally capable, efficient, and generous homemaker. Derived from the Hebrew phrase "master of the house," the feminine balebosta implies a woman with impressive stamina, character, and a talent for creating a warm, welcoming, and well-fed environment. The modern balebosta is a skilled multi-tasker, balancing family, career, and community in the same capable and warm spirit.

Jackie Quinlan is the founder of BALEBOSTA and the creative force behind every thoughtfully curated gift. Hospitality has always been in her blood—her grandparents ran a hotel in Vermont, and she inherited a love of hosting and cooking from both sides of her family.
A graduate Cornell's School of Hotel Administration, Jackie started her career in restaurants, eventually moving into management and transitioning to the corporate world as a human resources consultant. Today, she channels that same relentless customer and employee focus into BALEBOSTA, aspiring to make hosting and gifting personal, effortless, joyful.
From leading a local running club to exploring the local craft beer scene as a brewery tour guide, Jackie brings curiosity, creativity, and meticulous care to everything she does. At BALEBOSTA, she ensures every box, every treat, and every unwrapping moment is filled with thoughtfulness, warmth, and a touch of hospitality inherited through generations of balebostas before her.
